Robot vacuums have come a long way since the days of the crazy little model that ran about bumping into walls and scaring your pets. Navigation technology has taught these robots how to avoid furniture, stairs, and toes. They’re much more powerful as well. Most of them offer control via your wireless network or even through Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
Aside from all that, they make your life 1000 times easier, and even the most advanced models are affordable now. If it doesn’t fit into your budget, most sellers offer some kind of payment plan, or you can add it to your gift list and hope your friends are generous. Deciding to buy a robot vacuum is not the problem because you do need one, trust us, but picking the right one is not an easy task.
Every robot vacuum comes with plenty of marketing collateral or online information claiming it’s the best one. Well, they can’t all be the best one, or can they? Now you’re stuck talking to friends about theirs or watching a bunch of videos to see if the vacuum you want is the right one. It gets pretty involved and time-consuming, but we want to help you get past the hard part and start enjoying your new robot.
We looked at a lot of robot vacuums and dug through countless comments from people that own them. We’ve included a buyer’s guide further down the page, but the price is less critical, in our opinion than how well the robot works and how easy it is to operate. Our list comes from customer opinion, bonus features, and the price in that order.
That said, our list is unordered in order to avoid tainting your final decision. People often favor the first item they see on a list such as ours. So, we kept the order random for the reviews list and opted to highlight the robot vacuums we think are the best in the buyer’s guide below. Keep in mind that you know your home and how hard the floors are to keep clean, so focus on your needs first.
The Best Robot Vacuums
Some of the robot vacuums on our list carry hefty price tags, but they’re on the list because they meet specific criteria for durability, public perception, and value. Value is the least important feature for us because we just don’t know what your budget is or how much you want to spend on a robot vacuum. We do know you probably hate cleaning as much as we do and have decided to buy a robot either way.
Dyson 360 Eye Robot Vacuum
No products found.
This one sucks more than any other robot vacuum on our list. It offers twice the suction of its competitors and a hefty list of other features. It uses the same technology that Dyson’s handheld vacuums use which they offer as proof that it’s powerful. It’s equipped with some of the best scanners to find dirt, and the app lets you program cleaning times or target high traffic areas.
You can order this vacuum from Amazon. It is one of the best around, but you’ll have to justify spending this much on it to yourself. One feature we believe makes it worth the money is the mapping. It creates a map of sorts while it cleans to keep up with high traffic areas or other spots on your floors that need cleaning more often which is a pretty neat feature as well.
Customers that own the Dyson 360 love it. The only legitimate complaints we found were about the price. A few owners said it’s louder than they expected. That said, it’s a vacuum that’s sucking twice as hard as most of its competitors, so expect a little more noise. Other than the slightly higher noise level and the price, customer opinions of this vacuum remain high and satisfied.

This robot vacuum offers one of the longest lasting battery setups on the market. It cleans for up to 120 minutes in most cases which makes it ideal for large homes with lots of clear floor space. It doesn’t have the suction of the Dyson 360, but it’ll clean up pretty much anything it encounters. It’s quieter than most of its competitors as well.
You can order this vacuum from Amazon. Some sellers offer it at lower prices, and there’s a healthy market for used or refurbished Roomba 980s. It’s pricey compared to some of the vacuums on our list, but it’s worth it for the longer battery life and carpet boost features. Unlike previous iRobot vacuums that had issues with carpet, this one excels at cleaning it.
Customers that upgraded to this model from a previous iRobot vacuum claim it does a much better job cleaning a carpet. A few customers noted that carpet reduces the battery life because the vacuum seems to focus on carpeted areas for more extended periods. The app could use a little more work as well, but it’s developed enough to provide primary control and scheduling.

This vacuum stands out in the crowd because it’s perfect for homes with pets. Every aspect of this vacuum’s design is there to help it get into corners or deal with pet hair. If you have pets that shed everywhere or if you fight allergies on a daily basis, this vacuum may be perfect for you. Even the vacuum port is designed to reduce clogging from pet hair or other fiber-like materials.
You can order it from Amazon. If you have pets or allergies, it’s worth every penny. However, it lacks an app or any other control method aside from the buttons on the vacuum. It uses laser mapping to decide where things sit in each room and where to clean. Its laser mapping is excellent at its job, but the lack of an app is a little bit of a letdown.
Customers that own pets love this vacuum and those with allergies claim it’s helped them as well. However, the lack of an app or at least Bluetooth connectivity is disappointing, to say the least. We can’t imagine a scenario where an app isn’t necessary or some form of alternate control. We’re not living in the Stone Age. Overall, customers remain satisfied with the vacuum, and it does everything it claims.

Of the vacuums on this list, this is the quiet one. If you have jumpy pets or small children, this vacuum isn’t scary when it takes off to clean your floors. That said, it’s so quiet that it may startle you when you turn around and spot it out of the corner of your eye. Just be an adult about it and pretend it didn’t scare you like the rest of us.
You can order one from Amazon. It’s certainly affordable, and the quiet cleaning is a bonus as well. It uses sensors to detect walls, furniture, you, and stairs or other drop-offs. It offers wireless access via your home network, and it integrates well with Amazon Alexa. It’s an efficient pet hair remover as well.
Customers that own the RoboVac 30C praise its quiet operation. It’s great for homes with newborn or dogs that love to bark at every sound they hear. One thing that’s not apparent in the marketing materials for this vacuum is the long battery life it enjoys. Most customers say their vacuum cleans for well over an hour before needing to recharge.

If you’re on a budget and looking for a reliable yet straightforward floor cleaning solution, this vacuum may be what you’re seeking. It offers three cleaning modes to help you get the most out of your robot. It has an auto clean mode that just runs about cleaning at its own discretion plus a single room mode and a spot cleaning mode.
You can order one from Amazon. It’s not super quiet, but it won’t wake the neighbors when it starts vacuuming. You can control it through the app or via voice commands using Google Home or Amazon Alexa. It’s also worth noting that this inexpensive robot vacuum does a better job crossing thresholds than most of its competitors. For the money, it’s a feature-rich vacuum.
It’s not the perfect robot vacuum, but customers that own the Deebot N79S say they’re happy with it and its performance. However, it doesn’t perform well in homes with thick carpets or pets that shed a lot of hair. The brushes tend to get tangled in long hair and fail to clean themselves. It has trouble moving across thicker carpets and doesn’t clean it very well.

This is a great robot vacuum to start with if you’re not sure you need one yet. You need a robot vacuum, but we understand it’s a significant investment, usually, and there are some horror stories of robots that ran about breaking things. The days of the bump and go vacuum are over, so don’t listen to the hype and buy one whether it’s expensive or ultra-affordable like this one.
You can order one from Amazon. In spite of the low price, this little vacuum cleans flat surfaces well, and it comes with some bonus features like anti-drop sensors to keep it from rolling down your stairs. It has two cleaning modes, but the only difference between them is one cleans for longer before the vacuum needs charging.
The manufacturer claims the vacuum runs for 30 minutes in one cleaning mode and up to 50 minutes in the second cleaning mode, but customers say those cleaning times are exaggerated but at least 15 minutes. Customers say the vacuum does a good job cleaning flat floors like hardwood but fails to get carpet clean or it rolls onto the rug and just stops.

This vacuum is quiet and cleans for almost an hour between charging breaks. It’s shorter than most of its competitors which makes it ideal for anyone with lower than usual furniture. It detects furniture and stairs plus the navigation system does a great job of remembering where it left off during its last cleaning period.
You can order one from Amazon, it's the cheapest vacuum on our list. However, it comes with some perks that defy the price tag like a HEPA filter and long-lasting battery. It’s doesn’t have an app or remote control, so it only cleans when it feels like it. It also includes extra-large ports to accommodate pet hair or large debris.
Overall, customers that own this Pure Clean vacuum are happy with their purchase. Customers confirm the battery life is longer than expected and usually lasts around 45 minutes between charging cycles. It doesn’t come with an app or any other means of remotely controlling the vacuum. However, the vacuum only has one button to press, and it does the cleaning and charging automatically.
